Another Town Quietly Goes to the Dark Side

Just when we thought there was already no place left in Prince George's County which hadn't approved speed cameras yet... the town of Landover Hills has just awarded a contract for speed cameras to Brekford Corp

The town with a population of about 1500 borders route 450 and will almost certainly seek to deploy speed cameras on that road.

It is a requirement of the law that public meetings be held and public notice be provided before speed cameras be used.  However we could find no such notice in any online source, and as of the time of this posting the town has published no meeting minutes, agendas, or newsletters to the town's website for more than a year, nor was there any mention of it anywhere on the town's facebook page.  The last town meeting on the website was listed as July 19th, but there is no mention of speed cameras or any other agenda on the town website.  So if you live near there and had any objections you wanted to raise before they went ahead with this, you are basically SOL because town officials didn't want to hear from you.
