Montgomery County Council Examines Converting Car Lanes To Bus Routes

The Montgomery County council has been working on a proposal to "repurpose" lanes away from cars to support a new $3billion 'rapid transit' bus system.

Supporters of the plan say it will reduce traffic congestion by taking cars off the road.  "Bus rapid transit is rooted in the notion that if you take away a lane for cars on a congested road and set it aside for attractive, light-rail-like buses, some motorists will abandon their cars." wrote the Post.  So far funding for the proposal has not been identified.

Do you support proposals to "repurpose" car lanes for bus only traffic?
